Thank you for your interest in joining the team at The Ark Christian Youth Centre. We are excited about having volunteers that have a love for Christ and a desire to work with youth in Dawson Creek.

It is important that our volunteers are familiar with and understand the vision and values of The Ark’s ministry. Volunteers of the Ark are a vital part in fulfilling the mandate and calling God has given us. All volunteers must be willing to uphold and sign our statement of faith and adhere to The Ark’s vision and values. Those volunteers in leading positions must be of Christian Faith.

This application process is to learn how we can use you in this ministry. God uses ordinary people for extraordinary things. The Ark ministry uses real people with real stories that have experienced God’s Grace and are seeking God. The Ark wants to walk beside you, support you, and encourage you by allowing you to share your story and fulfil the calling we all have in Christ.

As you join The Ark’s team, you are taking on the role of mentoring youth in and out of The Ark. The youths of The Ark are constantly looking up to their leaders and it is important to remember this while at and away from The Ark in regards to how we conduct ourselves.

Along with the completion of this form, it is mandatory to complete a criminal record check (CRC). The CRC is free to have completed but does require you to submit an additional form to the RCMP. We will provide the additional form upon receipt of this application. The information on the CRC is used to provide a safeguard for the Ark, youths in our programs, and you.

The Ark Youth Centre is the Lord’s ministry, and for this reason it is committed to upholding a code of ethics that represents and honors God. Fully consider the seriousness of this ministry as you read and sign in agreement to the following statements:
  • We believe that God has called us to serve Him only, and we respond to His call to service.
    • Col. 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
  • We believe that we have God’s power to positively influence the lives of young people. We are committed to accomplishing this through positive role modeling, adherence to Ark rules and regulations, and encouragement of the same.
    • Eph. 5:15 Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise.
  • We believe that God has given each of us the power to share the gospel and to disciple others. We understand this to be a command and that it is our duty to do so when the Holy Spirit provides us with opportunity.
    • Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
    • Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
  • We are here to help meet the spiritual needs of young people and we are thus committed to praying for the youth that we interact with. We are willing to respond to any and all spiritual opportunities. We believe that we are spiritual examples and need to model Christ in our words and our actions.
    • Eph. 6:18-20 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
  • We will be working with youth at their most impressionable ages, and we are therefore committed to building them up emotionally, not tearing them down. We will be supportive even when they make mistakes. We will give every young person the opportunity to be meaningfully involved at the Ark, and we will help provide those opportunities.
  • We are committed to helping youth develop an active lifestyle and in giving them equal opportunities to build their physical skills.
  • We believe that we are each a part of the body of Christ, and with that knowledge, we understand that we must function as a body, not as individuals. We are committed to being team players, to serve and support other staff, and to submit to those in authority over us.
    • 1 Thess. 4:12-13 Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work.
  • We believe that our conduct at the Ark must be above reproach so that Satan and his angels would have no opportunity to discredit us in God’s or in anyone’s eyes. We are committed to a walk of integrity, where we will not compromise our Christian lifestyle.
    • 1 Tim. 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.

  • I believe the Holy Scriptures to be the divinely inbreathed, infallible, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God.
  • I believe that there is one God, eternally existent in the Holy Trinity.
  • I believe in the virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, His Deity, His sinless humanity and perfect life, the eternal all-sufficiency of His atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the Father’s right hand, and His personal coming again at His second advent.
  • I believe that justification is a judicial act of God on the believer’s behalf solely on the merits of Christ, and that regeneration by the power of the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
  • I believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

The information contained in this application is correct to the best of my knowledge. I authorize any references listed in this application to give The Ark Christian Youth Centre any information they may have regarding my character and fitness to work with children or youth. I release all such references from liability from any damage that may result from furnishing such evaluations to you.

I understand that if I am employed or work in a volunteer capacity at The Ark Christian Youth Centre and should my character and/or morals be inappropriate and/or criminal, my employment or volunteer assistance shall be terminated without expressed cause or prior notice, regardless of any other oral or written statements or commencement or volunteer service, unless set out in writing, dated, and signed by both parties.
